Meet Victoria Prentis KC MP
It is expected that at the next General Election Charlbury will become part of the North Oxfordshire constituency whose current MP is Victoria Prentis. The idea is to hear about her as a personality, why and how did she get into Politics, interviewed by Paul Jackson Chair of the Club. There will be plenty of time for “non-controversial-political” questions. Restricted to Probus Members and their guests.
Victoria Prentis has been the Member of Parliament for North Oxfordshire since May 2015. She held many positions in Government involving Food, Farming, Fisheries, Work, Welfare and Pensions before becoming Attorney General for England and Wales in October 2022.
Victoria studied at the University of London and Downing College, Cambridge and completed her training as a barrister in 1995. For seventeen years she was a lawyer for the Treasury Solicitors’ Department and ultimately headed the Government’s Justice and Security team. This involved providing advice on military, prisons and national security matters and representing the Government in court. Victoria founded and chaired the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust’s Benefactors’ Board and has volunteered for many other charities.
